The Johnson Space Center was established in 1961 as the Manned Spaceflight Center, but was renamed in honor of the late President, and Texas native, Lyndon B. Johnson in 1973.

Houston is a major destination for international students and is America’s fourth-largest city. Houston is also the center of the world’s energy industry. The city is the most ethnically diverse in the U.S.A. and is home to a large and growing global community. ELS/Houston is adjacent to the University of St. Thomas – Houston (UST) campus.
