ELS Language Centers is very pleased to announce that a new Center will open in Hollywood, California, in partnership with the industry-leading Los Angeles Film School on November 10, 2014!

The Los Angeles Film School

LAFS_Color_R-programsThe Los Angeles Film School (or LA Film School) is a college geared toward the entertainment industry. Its mission is to provide students with the experience and knowledge of the creative arts, technology, and business practices of the entertainment business. They offer training programs that blend technical knowledge with artistic techniques that are specific to the business. The goal is to graduate skilled and knowledgeable professionals who are prepared for a career in the entertainment industry.

The LA Film School is in Hollywood, a neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, that is considered the worldwide capital of the entertainment industry. Students who study at The Los Angeles Film School are surrounded by studios, production houses and many of the leading companies in the entertainment world today. Guest lecturers (including major film directors and recording artists, etc.) are invited to campus to speak directly with students and discuss their personal experiences. The school’s faculty and Career Development team are well-connected with industry professionals that work with students each day to provide them with innovative approaches to their area of expertise.

The school offers Associate's degrees in Music Production and Recording Arts. The LA Film School also offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Animation and Visual Effects, Entertainment Business, Film Production, and Game Production and Design. Completion of ELS English for Academic Purposes Level 110 serves as fulfillment of the English proficiency requirement for Associate programs, while completion of Level 112 fulfills the English requirement for Bachelor’s programs.

An important part of being successful is being connected, and it is also a big part of what has made the Los Angeles Film School the educational community it is today. Its location in the center of Hollywood offers students unparalleled access to entertainment industry experts who share their insights and experiences to help develop industry-ready professionals.

The ELS facility, including all classrooms, offices and the Language Technology Center, will be located on campus. ELS students will have full access to Los Angeles Film School facilities, including The Brain Lobby, Food Alley and Student Resource Center. Off-campus housing is available to ELS students in a newly-renovated apartment location nearby.

•The TCL Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame—a must-see, this iconic Hollywood theater is like a trip back in time to Hollywood’s Golden Age. Just outside is the famous sidewalk where celebrated movie stars have left their hand prints and foot prints.

•Griffith Park—Griffith Park is the largest urban park in the USA. There you will find the Griffith Observatory, a public observatory that offers a planetarium, public telescopes, and the best view of the famous Hollywood Sign, which is also located in the park. Admission and parking are free!

•Universal Studios Hollywood—one of the most popular attractions in the Los Angeles area, featuring rides and amusements based on some of the most well-known scenes and characters from film and television. Don’t forget to visit City Walk outdoor mall with shops, restaurants and entertainment.

•Hollywood Bowl—if you have the chance, don’t pass up the opportunity to see a concert at the famed Hollywood Bowl, one of the country’s largest natural amphitheatres with a beautiful backdrop of the Hollywood hills. Bring along a picnic and enjoy!
