Location

Florida Institute of Technology is a national, doctoral-granting research university with a strong commitment to international education in an enriched technological environment, known worldwide for its excellent academic programs, outstanding faculty and alumni success. International students comprise nearly 30% of Florida Tech's undergraduate student body and 49% of our graduate student population. They represent more than 100 countries from around the world. Ranked a Tier One Best National University by U.S. News & World Report, it is also the only independent technological university in the Southeastern United States. Times Higher Education recently named Florida Tech in the Top 200 Universities in the World. Florida Tech's main campus spans 130 acres. Campus is located in Melbourne, just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean, one hour east of Orlando and a three-hour drive north of Miami. The area is home to the most concentrated high-tech economy in the state and the fourth-largest high-tech workforce in the nation. Melbourne's attractive business climate is matched only by its natural resources including the Atlantic Ocean and Indian River Lagoon, which are ideal for scientific study and research. The climate is generally sunny and temperate; the average daily temperature is 76°F/24°C and severe storms are infrequent.

Housing


On-campus housing is available in conventional double- and single-room residence halls as well as one-, two-, three-, and four bedroom apartments. For those who prefer living off-campus, accommodations are plentiful, although all new students under the age of 21 are required to live in the university dormitories for two academic years. Transfer students with 54 or more credits re exempt from the campus housing policy. Food service is provided in multiple campus dining areas.

  • New Esports Arena Created for students by students, there are nearly 100 clubs and organizations at Florida Tech including academic, social, cultural, performance, media, leadership and honor societies, clubs and organizations. Florida Tech is home to 22 celebrated NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports teams including baseball (M), basketball (M,W), cross country (M,W), football (M), golf (M,W), lacrosse (M, W), rowing (M,W), soccer (M,W), softball (W), swimming (M,W), tennis (M,W), track and field (M,W) and volleyball (W).
