Academic excellence attracts students from all over the world to the University of St. Thomas campus, located minutes away from the Texas Medical Center and downtown Houston. Students from 36 states and 50 foreign countries fill classrooms. With a student-faculty ratio of 9:1, St. Thomas offers students highly personalized instruction. Ninety-three percent of full-time faculty have earned the top degrees in their fields. St. Thomas offers 36 undergraduate majors and 10 pre-professional programs including dentistry, engineering, law, medicine, nursing, optometry and pharmacy, and 17 master's degrees include accounting, business administration, education, faith and culture, finance, liberal arts, theology and philosophy. Also available is a doctorate in philosophy and a Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership. Founded in 1947 by the Basilian Fathers, the University of St. Thomas remains Houston's first and only Catholic university. St. Thomas is dedicated to educating leaders of faith and character, committed to the religious, ethical, and intellectual traditions of Catholic higher education and welcomes students of all faiths. Since 1994, "U.S. News & World Report" has named the University of St. Thomas to the top tier of Western mid-sized comprehensive universities. Housing


The majority of undergraduate and graduate international students live on campus in Guinan Residence Hall or Young Hall. Guinan Residence Hall offers a traditional campus life experience for undergraduate students. Young Hall consists of apartments for upperclassmen, graduate and non-traditional-aged students. Student life
