2nd Annual J. Michael Adams Lecture and Conversation Series on October 30, 2015

This year’s speaker is Ambassador Thomas Pickering. Ambassador Pickering will reflect on 70 years of the United Nations and the future of the organization in a rapidly evolving world. The event takes place on 30 October from 1 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. in Conference Room 4 at United Nations Headquarters.

Ambassador Pickering is the former United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and former United States Ambassador to the Russian Federation, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, Jordan and the United Nations in New York.

United Nations HeadquartersThe series is named in honor of the late Dr. J. Michael Adams, former president of Fairleigh Dickinson University and major contributor to the development of the United Nations Academic Impact.

Dr. Adams was a long-time supporter and friend of ELS. In 2013, he was the recipient of the ELS Award for Lifetime Contribution to International Education. Under his leadership Fairleigh Dickinson sparked new and close ties with the United Nations, including becoming the first university in the world to earn Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the creation of the United Nations Pathways program to bring United Nations speakers to campus and becoming the very first member of United Nations Academic Impact.
