ELS and Los Angeles Film School: The Student Perspective

Yuri, from Japan, is currently studying English at ELS and plans to study music recording at Los Angeles Film School. One of the reasons she chose to study with ELS/Hollywood at Los Angeles Film School is because of the quality of programs.

“I watched YouTube videos of the Los Angeles Film School, and was able to speak with one of the staff members here at the school before I left Japan to study at ELS.” 

Yuri would like to become a music producer, and wants to learn how to produce music via turntables and soundboards. She hopes to one day work in Los Angeles or New York.

“When I studied at ELS Berkeley, there was a presentation about the Los Angeles Film School.  After doing some more research, I really liked the environment of the school, especially the facilities and equipment I would be learning to use when learning how to create film.”

At Los Angeles Film School, Johnny will have the opportunity to develop connections with experts and leaders in the film industry.

Johnny enjoys the ease of collaboration between students from different majors that Los Angeles Film School offers him while working on a film project.

“When creating a film, the film majors work with the music production students so it all comes together as one piece of work.”

Mohamed, from Egypt, is currently studying Computer Animation at Los Angeles Film School. Through his area of study, he will be able to attain technological and artistic skills required to bring characters and stories to life.

Before he began his study at Los Angeles Film School, his ELS English courses helped him overcome academic writing challenges he had faced.

“Prior to coming to the US, I did not have any academic writing experience.  What I learned in these classes has helped me with my essays that I need to write for my LAFS classes.”

Mohamed is working to bring together his fellow Egyptians with an interest in computer animation.

“My goal is to go back to Egypt to take what I learned here in the US, and represent this animated art in Egypt. Right now, I am currently working with friends in Egypt on creating meet-up groups and conferences that will help grow this industry and make it more popular.”
