Student life

Brenau has close to 50 student-run clubs and organizations, including a range of national sororities. In addition to helping students develop social skills, the organizations also instill Brenau's strong sense of social responsibility, civic engagement and global culture awareness for life in a changing world.

As a traditional showplace for fine arts, Brenau boasts one of the most impressive permanent arts collections of painting, sculpture and other art works of any institution of its size. The university is the first - and only - academic partner of the world-class High Museum of Art in Atlanta. It also has a special arrangement with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International and has on permanent display for the first time anywhere a special exhibition of the famed "Gorillas in the Mist" anthropologist's personal belongings, rescued from her home in Rwanda after she was murdered there.

The Gainesville Theatre Alliance, a partnership of Brenau University, Gainesville State College and local community theater amateurs and professionals, Brenau students have many opportunities each year to participate at all levels in the production of a wide range of theatrical and musical theater performances for large audiences. Part of the 30-year-old partnership is WonderQuest, which brings more than 7,000 north Georgia school children to the Brenau campus each year, exposing them to an art form that otherwise would be unavailable to most of them.
