Location

CSU Channel Islands is located in Camarillo, California. Camarillo is located between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, just north of the Santa Monica Mountain range. The campus is situated in a thriving, culturally diverse, economic region that is home to major industrial and biotechnology firms, and agricultural operations. CI is a student-centered, four-year, public unviersity known for it's interdisciplinary, multicultural, and international perspectives and it's emphasis on experiential and service learning. CI's strong academic programs focus on liberal studies, sciences, business, economics, mathematics, teaching credentials and innovative master's degrees such as the M.S. in Biotechnology. Students benefir from individual attention, up-to-date technology, and classroom instruction augmented by stellar faculty research. The University promotes partnerships with the community and works to build pathways to college for Ventura County residents. Channel Islands is a responsible citizen of the region and actively pursues sustainable and energy efficient practices. Camarillo is a thriving community of 65,000 in the heart of Ventura County. Situated in the Oxnard Plain, and just nine miles from the ocean, Camarillo offers an appealing mix of both rural and suburban lifestyles. With an average temperature in the low 70's (22 Celsius) and over 300 days of sunshine annually, Camarillo's climate is hard to beat anywhere. But these are just a few of the reasons why Camarillo is the best place to live, study, work, and play!

Housing


Housing and Residential Education (HRE) provides housing to students on the campus at CI. There are two different types of housing options that come with different meal plans throughout the year. The two types of residence halls offered at CI are: Anacapa village (offered to graduate and transfer students) - apartment style living with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen and living room. Santa Cruz Village (offered to undergraduate, graduate and transfer students) - two bedroom one bathroom residence. Our off campus housing options include apartments at University Glen. Students may apply directly to the University Glen Apartment Management Office if they wish. Another off campus housing option is the near by Marriott Residence Inn. Both off-campus housing options are run through private companies and they do not provide services on behalf of the university.

Student life

Students at CSU Channel Islands can enjoy participating in intramural sports, health and fitness, various student organizations, waterfront programs (sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking), outdoor adventures, honor societies, service learning, leadership retreats and workshops, multicultural programs, sports clubs, block parties, carrer and grad fairs.
