Founded in 1974, Los Medanos College (LMC) is a two-year public community college accredited by the ACCREDITING COMMISSION OF COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES OF THE WESTERN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES. With a full-time enrollment of under 3,000 students and an average class size of 28, LMC offers a student-centered learning environment across its over 40 academic degree options. Los Medanos College has been ranked the #6 Community College in the nation by College Choice in their list of “50 Best Community Colleges for 2016-2017”. This tops off a year where the college was selected as one of the top 150 community colleges in the nation by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program, was ranked the #1 community college debate team at the United States Universities Debating Championships (USUDC), and LMC’s stellar team “Engineering Tech” won accolades from NASA for their meteor-coring tool which NASA used on a recent mission. . LMC is located 70km east of San Francisco in the city of Pittsburg, CA. Student life

LMC offers international students numerous curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. Among the learning communities are the Honors Program and MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) Program. LMC also has a wide variety of student clubs, athletics teams, student government, enterntainment and volunteer organizations. With regard to student resources, LMC has science, math, music study labs, more than 700 computers for student use, a career and transfer center, and free academic tutoring for diverse subjects.
