Mount Saint Mary's University is an independent, Catholic, liberal arts college which provides a values-based undergraduate education for women, as well as innovative programs for professional men and women on two historic campuses in Los Angeles. The Mount is the only Catholic university primarily for women in the Western United States. It is also nationally recognized for its academic programs, its culturally diverse student body, and its focus on preparing the next generation of citizen leaders. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet in 1925, it is dedicated to developing young women into the leaders of tomorrow. The school's measure of success is graduates who are committed to using their knowledge and skills to better themselves, their environment and the world. The University also prides itself on the diversity of its student body and faculty, which includes a wide variety of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Indeed, this diversity greatly enhances students' preparation for involvement and leadership in our increasingly complex world.

On-campus dormitories and full meal plans are available on both campuses, attractive and well furnished dormitories, student resident life is largely self-regulated.
