SUNY, College at Canton is part of the State University of New York (SUNY), the largest U.S. public university system. Here, opportunities for an excellent education are enhanced by the individual attention provided by a small college combined with the resources of a large, well-know institution. SUNY Canton is located in the northernmost party of New York State, known as "The North Country." It is a place rich with history and full of opportunities for outdoor recreation. The campus is located on the outskirts of the village of Canton, within walking distance via a footbridge, which crosses the Grasse River. Downtown shops include a natural foods store, jewelry, clothing, and arts and crafts boutiques, a bagel and coffee shop and fast foods.


SUNY Canton has five residence halls. Each hall has three wings of student rooms, which are clustered around a central common area. There are a variety of different lifestyle options. There are 12 rooms per floor and all are furnished. Clusters of three rooms on each floor share a common bathroom. All residence halls are furnished with a modular jack and a telephone. More than half of the SUNY Canton population lives off-campus. Assistance may be available for students seeking off-campus housing.

Student life
