The University of Mount Olive is a private institution rooted in the liberal arts tradition with defining Christian values. The University, sponsored by the Convention of Original Free Will Baptists, has locations in Mount Olive, New Bern, Wilmington, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Research Triangle Park, Washington, Jacksonville and in Smithfield at Johnston Community College.


The college provides residence halls for both men and women, with double occcupancy and accommodations. Comfortable apartment living for four residents per apartment is available for third and fourth year students. Weekly meal plans are available, providing 10 to 20 meals per week.

Student life

Transformational experiences also occur outside the classroom in student organizations, professional & collegiate clubs, performing groups, internships and community service opportunities. Students have the opportunity to compete on 20 highly-competitive NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic teams. The baseball team gained national recognition as the 2008 NCAA Division II Baseball National Champions.

NCAA Division ll athletics includes men's basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, lacrosee, soccer, tennis, track & field and volleyball. Women's sports include basketball, cross-country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, tennis, softball and track & field.
