The University of North Alabama (UNA), referred by UNA international students as the Sweet-home away from home, is the oldest university in the state of Alabama and one of the oldest universities in the U.S. Since its founding in 1830. UNA has been providing quality and affordable education, as well as a safe, caring living and learning environment. The distinguished history and excellent academic programs make a college experience and degree from UNA more valuable and the knowledge and skills you acquired applicable wherever your career take you around the world. UNA offers ESL, undergraduate, and graduate majors to prospective students. UNA has been recognized by its different accreditations and has been considered as a Best Buy College among higher Education institutions in the U.S. With more than 100 fields of study available, students will find the right program that can meet your academic interest and career goals.

UNA offers residential housing located within walking distance of classes. A standard room with double occupancy includes two extra-long twin beds, desks, closets, chests of drawers, and bulletin boards with heat, air-conditioning, basic telephone services and cable television connection. All residence halls have laundry, and vending machines.

UNA offers extended housing, especially for international students who would like to stay during breaks and holidays, at an increase in rent. Additionally, on-campus apartments containing living-dining room, kitchen, bath, and two bedrooms are available for students. Sodexho Campus Services at UNA offers flexible meal plans through their two cafeterias.

Student life

Classes at UNA are small, friendly, and are taught by professors/instructors, not by graduate assistants. More than 70 percent of the instructional faculty holds doctoral/terminal degrees in their fields of study. UNA has a student-teacher ratio of 23:1 and an average class size of 25.
