Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wis., is a Catholic, Franciscan university founded in 1890 by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration that prepares students for faithful service and ethical leadership. Viterbo is a co-educational liberal arts institution with renowned programs in nursing, business, education, and the fine arts. WIth an average class size of 16, Viterbo provides individual attention associated with a successful university experience. Viterbo has more than 70 undergraduate programs of study and five graduate programs, so Viterbo students have academic choices that compare to larger universities. Viterbo also offers internships, field experience, service learning, and research opportunities that enhance the classroom experience. The university is a member of the National Association of the Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) with 17 varsity sports, including eight men's sports and nine women's sports.


Freshmen and Sophomores, with the exception of those living at home with parents, move into campus dormitories; this means the dorms are the center of campus life. Viterbo dorms offer a friendly atmosphere, comfortable rooms, kitchen and laundry facilities, study rooms, lounges and snack bars, plus three meals a day. Student can choose from single or double rooms. Both dormitory and apartment style housing is available. The dormitories are located across the street from classroom buildings.
