A view of Art, Architecture, and Natural Attractions awaits while studying at ELS/Seattle

February 9, 2016

The ELS/Seattle Center features a backdrop of majestic Mount Rainier and the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. Students have the opportunity to visit many unique landmarks, festivals, and attractions native to the Seattle area and in the State of Washington.

The Space Needle

Seattle Skyline

Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, the Space Needle has dominated Seattle’s skyline ever since with its unique UFO-like design. The tower’s round observation deck (nearly 160 meters high) offers spectacular views of the city and the Olympic Mountains.

The space needle surely stands out in this photo of the Seattle skyline!

Olympic Sculpture Park

Students interested in art and sculpture will want to visit Olympic Sculpture Park. This four-hectare outdoor section of the Seattle Art Museum includes works by Alexander Calder, Claes Oldenburg and Roxy Paine, and many others.

Pioneer Square

This cobblestoned neighborhood includes art galleries, restaurants and shops, a stop for the cable car, and a Tlingit totem pole.

Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie Falls are one of Washington State’s most popular scenic attractions. The falls attracts people interested in sightseeing, picnicking in the park, and hiking. Some people even have their weddings at the falls!

More than 1.5 million people visit Snoqualmie Falls each year. The Falls feature a two-acre (0.8 ha) park, and an observation deck.

ELS/Seattle students take in the scenic beauty!

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is a popular destination for visitors of the United States Pacific Northwest area. The festival is held from April 1 through April 30. Throughout the festival, millions of tulips burst into bloom.

Each spring over 100,000 people come to enjoy the celebration. In 2014 festival staff greeted visitors from all 50 US States and from 85 additional countries around the world. ELS/Seattle students contribute to the international community of visitors!
