All positions are paid a competitive wage and students may receive academic credit. IPFW offers two types of co-ops as well as internships:
- Alternating Co-op: Students alternate semesters of full-time study with full-time employment, with the option of working two consecutive sessions if a summer is involved.
- Parallel Co-op: Students work part-time (10-24 hours per week) while attending IPFW. A minimum of two semesters are required and the student may continue working with the employer until graduation. An employer may also request full-time work during the summer break.
- Internships: In addition to Co-op, IPFW also offers one-semester paid internships, most commonly full-time in the summer or part-time in the fall/spring. This option is available to selected majors only.
Students participating in a co-op or internship are required to maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA, have Freshman academic requirements completed, and be working towards a four-year degree. Departments may have additional criteria.
