Location

Founded in 1940, Bates Technical College is located in Tacoma, Washington, the third largest city in the state, with a population of 200,000. The college has three campuses within the city, and serves more than 9,000 students annually, with 4,400 in full-time career education programs. The college also houses its own PBS-affiliated public television station, KBTC. Bates is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, and offers high school completion, two-year associate of applied science and associate of applied science-transferable degrees, certificates of competency and training, industry certifications, and, in specific programs, prepares students for the achievement of state licensure. Career education programs are designed to meet the needs of an evolving, global workforce. The college maintains articulation agreements with several four-year universities, making some of the college's two-year degrees transferable, specifically in the areas of business, education, computer science and engineering. Thirty minutes from Seattle and the state capital, Tacoma is a progressive international city nestled at the foot of Mount Rainier and along the shores of Commencement Bay. The vibrant city houses several museums, a thriving theatre district, and countless maritime activities. Because of its pristine location, Tacoma offers students both the excitement of city life and unparalleled natural beauty. Average Temperatures Low (winter): 41°F/5°C High (summer): 64°F/18°C

宿泊施設

Bates Technical College does not have student dormitories; however, we work with an excellent homestay program called Abode Homestay, Inc. that offers international students the opportunity to live with a local Washington family while studying at Bates Technical College. Many great friendships have developed between international students and families as a result of homestay. Some students prefer to live in their own apartment or in shared housing. Apartments rent for between US $425-$700 per month, depending on number of bedrooms and features. There are two bedroom apartments near each of the three campuses that rent for approximately $550 per month. If the apartment is not furnished, students will need to rent or purchase beds, tables, televisions, chairs, linens, supplies, etc. Other apartment rental costs include electricity, phone and heating.
