Location

Caldwell University was founded in 1939 by the Sisters of Saint Dominic as a Liberal Arts College. Our beautiful and secure 70 acres campus is located in the picturesque town of Caldwell, New Jersey; only 30 kilometers from New York City, Caldwell University offers small class settings and has an overall enrollment of 2155 students. The University holds full accreditation from the Commission on Higher Education ofhe Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, many of the programs have accreditations from specific accrediting bodies. Caldwell offers 27 undergraduate programs of study, ranging from Business, Education and Psychology to Nursing, Biology and many health affiliation programs. Caldwell University was recently honored for distinctive educational excellence by collegesofdistinction.com and recognized as a great college for the liberal arts by Wintergreen Orchad House. Recently, Caldwell was voted the third best place to live in all of New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly Magazine and it was also selected among the top 10 safest campuses in New Jersey. Caldwell University is only a short walk from town, where students find shops, coffee houses, restaurants, a movie theatre and anything a student could want. In addition, our students use New York City as another classroom, where they can engage in internships and shadowing opportunities, experience cultural events, shop or catch a game! The average summer temperature is above 76°F / 25°C The average winter temperature is below 47°F / 8°C.

The Mother Joseph Residence Hall (MJRH) houses approximately 275 full-time students. Most of the rooms are double occupancy; a limited number of single and quadruple occupancy rooms are available. The Dominican Hall houses approximately 200 full-time students. This building has been designed as suite-style housing. Most suites consist of two double-occupancy bedrooms and a limited number of single-occupancy bedrooms. Each suite consists of two bathrooms, living room and either a half kitchen or a full kitchen. There are four lounges located throughout the building as well as two study lounges.
All residents participate in the campus food plan, which provides unlimited meals each day while the school is on session. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available to both residents and commuters in the cafeteria in the Student Center provided by Gourmet Dining. All residence hall rooms are equipped with cable television service, telephone service and voicemail, and data ports for high-speed Internet access and wireless internet. A fully equipped laundry room is provided in each residence hall for residents' use.

Student life

Conscious of the mission of Caldwell University, the Student Services staff, under the direction of the Vice President for Student Life, manifests particular concern for the individual. The staff encourages students to mature intellectually, spiritually and personally and to integrate values which will enable them to live fulfilling and productive lives. The Caldwell University community celebrates the relationships and events which are the hallmarks of its particular identity in a series of activities throughout the academic year. The University also provides its students with numerous activities including sports, clubs, publications and student government.
