Location

Originally established in 1905, Northwest Missouri State University is a state-assisted, four-year regional university. Northwest has over 130 undergraduate and 40 Graduate programs. Our premier undergraduate programs include Biology, Nanoscale Science, Geographic Information Systems, Emergency & Disaster Management, Business (Econ, Finance, Accounting, etc.), Communication & Media Studies, Data Mining, Cybersecurity, Crim Justice/Criminology, and Education. At the Graduate level, we offer Applied Computer Science and an MBA (General, Agri Econ), Information Systems, Agriculture and Math. Recently ranked one of the top 3 universities in Missouri and 74th among regional universities in the United States, Northwest currently has around 7,000 students, offering great opportunities for students to succeed socially as well as academically. Maryville was also recently ranked #22 safest university town in the United States. Northwest Missouri State is located in the center of the USA, in Maryville, Missouri, about an hour north of Kansas City. With an all-inclusive yearly cost of $27,000 USD, Northwest prides itself on offering a quality education at low cost. This cost includes tuition, room, meals, student insurance, textbooks, laptop, and orientation/airport pickup fees. Northwest offers scholarships to ALL qualified international students to help reduce the cost of undergraduate attendance to as low as $15,800. Northwest is located in a small, friendly, safe rural community, but within easy access of the Kansas City metro. Student life

Northwest has over 175 student-run organizations, ranging from academic interest clubs, to intramural sports clubs, to special interest organizations. The International Center has an active International Student Organization, and sponsors bi-weekly coffee/tea hours, First Friday Culture talks, International Education Week, and other special events. Northwest's NCAA Division II teams compete in a variety of sports, and students may attend plays. concerts and lectures--all free of charge.
