Location

Stephen F. Austin State University is located in the oldest town of Nacogdoches, Texas. They have the perfect safe and small town environment having a population of 30,000. There international students can feel comfortable and have the support to learn and meet new people. Ranked a Tier 1 Regional University by U.S. News and World Report, SFA is a comprehensive institution with widely respected programs of study. SFA offers over 80 undergraduate programs and 40 graduate programs including 3 doctoral programs. There are approximately 13,000 students on campus including students from 50 different countries. The average class size is 26 students and the student-to-faculty ratio of 20:1 ensures that each student receives personalized attention. Nacogdoches has lots of native beauty and charm. There are many outdoor activities such as fishing, water skiing, camping and boating fun on Lake Nacogdoches and Lake Naconiche. There are 16 city parks to enjoy including a Civic & Expo Center that hosts concerts and rodeos. Many activities that are held on the university campus - plays, sporting events and more. The Residence Life Department at Stephen F. Austin State University provides rooms for approximately 5,000 students. Each community has residence life staff members to help and support you as you find your place in the community. The staff is well trained, energetic, and dedicated to making your experience living on campus educational and positive. There are 4 first-year student residence halls and 10 non-freshman residence halls.

Student life

International students play an active role on campus and can participate in many events throughout the year, including international student clubs, fashion shows, food festivals, movie night, cultural presentations and so on. Student Involvement coordinates over 200 student organizations. The Involvement Center provides a personal consultant for students who are looking to get involved in the campus community. The consultants help students find activities and organizations that best fit their interests.
