Many Languages, One World to be Broadcast Live

Many Languages, One World^® winners will be presenting action plans at the United Nations General Assembly this Friday, July 29, and 10:00EDT (UTC -5:00). The student’s presentations will be broadcast live on http://webtv.un.org/ for viewing.

Students will present in six groups of 10, separated by the United Nations Official Language in which the students wrote their essays. The six official languages of the United Nations are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. The live stream of #MLOW2016 will be available in the six languages.

The action plans will be related to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Many Languages, One World contest challenged students around the globe to write an essay examining global citizenship, cultural understanding, and the role that the multilingual ability can have in fostering both. Entrants submitted essays in one of the six official United Nations languages, which could be neither the student’s first language nor his/her primary language of instruction.

2016 marks the third year of the Many Languages, One World Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum.
