Discover the City of Charlotte with ELS/Charlotte

ELS/Charlotte is located in the clean and modern city of Charlotte, the largest city in the state of North Carolina. The region is home to 40 institutions of higher learning, located on 50 campuses. Charlotte also offers you the ability to explore Olympic Class training facilities, spectacular amusement parks, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame!

In Charlotte, you can visit the U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC). The USNWC is an Olympic-class training facility and home to the world’s largest man-made whitewater river. The USNWC offers 160 hectares for rafting, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and zip-lining.

The Carowinds amusement park, spread over 160 hectares offers 60 world-class rides, plus shows and attractions, including some of the best-rated roller coasters in the country.

Charlotte is also home to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Charlotte and the surrounding area feature 58 NASCAR racing teams. The Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts numerous drag and track races during the year.

ELS/Charlotte's location inside Gateway Center features eleven classrooms, a 34-station Language Technology Center, five administrative offices and a student lounge -- all beautiful and newly constructed. ELS students will have numerous restaurants, coffee shops, and retail stores within a short walking distance or a short ride on Charlotte's free Uptown public buses.
