Mayville State University (MSU) is one of North Dakota's original colleges, established in 1889. The mission of MSU is to educate and guide students, as individuals, so they may realize their full career potential and enhance their lives. This is done in an environment that reflects the tradition of personal service, commitment to innovative technology, enriched education and dynamic learning relationships with community, employers and society. International students will find a supportive, safe and friendly environment to develop their English and cross cultural skills, while interacting with American students in classes, residence halls or while involved in student clubs and organizations. Nearby Grand Forks and Fargo provide all urban services.

Freshman and scholarship recipients are required to live on campus in residence halls.

Houses and apartments are available to rent in the community but are not provided by Mayville State University.

Student life

MSU's Office of Campus Programming and Student Activities Council organizes a wide variety of social and recreational events: Homecoming and Spring Fling events are highlights. Dances, movies, hypnotists, comedians and karaoke are just a few more. International students can easily get involved and practice their English skills on MSU's small campus.
