Founded in 1946, Northwest College is located in the Rocky Mountains of Northwest Wyoming. A little more than 1400 students attend NWC, with approximately 500 students living on campus. Approximately 56 international students attend NWC from more than 29 different countries and these students are an active and integral part of the college community and enjoy the multicultural environment and activities that take place throughout the year. NWC offers close to 50 degree and certificate programs. Student organizations offer many opportunities for students to get involved on campus. International students participate in student government, athletics, cultural events, Model United Nations, and more than 30 clubs. Additional activities are planned for international students which include educational, cultural or recreational field trips designed to provide cross-cultural experiences and opportunities to interact with other students. NWC is located in the small and friendly town of Powell, Wyoming. Students are involved in the local community of approximately 6,000 people. There are incredible outdoor activities available like kayaking, canoeing, hiking and camping as well as outdoor credit options for students like Writing in the Wild, Art in the Wild and Biology in Yellowstone.


Four residence halls (with Internet access, laundry room, small comunal kitchen, study rooms, computer labs, and entertainment areas) and two apartment complexes; housing on campus guaranteed in single or double rooms; arrangements can be made for housing during vacation periods.

Student life

Northwest College (NWC) in Powell, WY. Northwest College is a 2 year residential community college located in the Northern Rocky Mountains, just 90 minutes from Yellowstone National Park. We offer a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for international students to experience their first 2 years of American education. We are a small campus and our student faculty ratio is 12:1.

The campus of Northwest College Wyoming is integrated into the community and is within easy walking or biking distance to stores, restaurants, movie theaters, banks and medical facilities. Students can participate in clubs, student government or join one of many musical groups. Opportunities also exist to take college-sponsored trips in the US and abroad.
