Brescia is a four-year coeducational Catholic college located in Owensboro, which is Kentucky's fourth-largest city. Founded in 1925 by the Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph, Brescia has been at the forefront of Catholic higher education in Western Kentucky. Located on 3 acres, Brescia currently has around 1300 undergraduate, graduate, and non degree seeking students. With over 40 majors to offer, the cornerstone of Brescia's academic programs is our foundation in the liberal arts. One of the greatest strengths of Brescia is academic advising which focuses on the success of every student. Brescia was chosen by U.S. News & World Report for a top 35 ranking in its 2013 edition of "America's Best Colleges" in the category Regional Colleges in the South. Brescia University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges. The population of Owensboro is approximately 55,400. The University campus is within walking distance of the revitalized downtown area, the River Park Performing Arts Center, the Daviess County Public Library and the Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts. Closely located to the movie theatre, shopping and restaurants, you will never run out of things to do. An average low temperature in winter is around 40F (4.4C), with an average high during summer around 85F (29C) degrees.
A wide variety of safe on-campus housing is available in dormitories and family style houses. Brescia has the traditional residence halls, with one or two students to a room. Some renovated houses are available and two new apartment complexes house five students per complex. All housing has wireless Internet and equipped with laundry facilities. All residents have a 19 meal plan.
At Brescia University there are more than twenty academic and service-oriented clubs are available. Facilities include a spacious library, a well-equipped science building, a speech and hearing center, language lab, music studios, and a new activities and recreation center. Brescia University is home to the Bearcats and Lady Bearcats, a contender in the NAIA and KIAC. There are 15 Bearcats teams including baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's tennis, and volleyball.
In Fall, 2017, Brescia will have a new Campus Center that will feature a new fitness center for students, new/bigger gym, and new/renovated dining hall with Grab N Go window.
