Cypress College was founded in 1966 with 1,200 students. Today, more than 16,000 students attend the college. The 44.5-hectare campus, located in northern Orange County, is comprised of 12 major buildings including classrooms, laboratories, workshops, studios, a bookstore, a library, an Olympic-sized pool and two gymnasiums. Cypress College is just 16 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean and eight kilometers from Knott's Berry Farm. Disneyland is just 13 kilometers from campus. The large, metropolitan city of Long Beach, is also just 13 kilometers to the northwest of campus, where California State University, Long Beach is located. Other 4-year universities close to Cypress College are California State University, Fullerton and two University of California, Irvine and Los Angeles. Housing is not available on the college campus. The International Students Program Office can assist with suggesting appropriate housing. Students should plan that housing costs will be approximately $10,000 per year.
At Cypress College more than 20 active student clubs, including an International Student Club offer many options. The Associated Students provides activities on an ongoing basis.
The college competes in the following sports for men: baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and swimming. Women's intercollegiate sports include basketball, soccer, softball, swimming, volleyball and water polo.
There are Fine Arts productions and Support Services include tutoring, counseling and a learning resource center.
