Location
The University of Scranton, a Catholic, Jesuit institution, is known for many things, especially academic prestige, exceptional sense of community, and state-of-the-art facilities and technology. Located in the heart of the city of Scranton, 2 hours west of New York City and 2 hours north of Philadelphia, it is easily accessible by car, bus or airplane. Founded in 1888, the University offers 66 undergraduate and 26 graduate academic programs of study. The total student body population is approximately 5,500 and there are 120 international students from 17 countries.
住宿
The University of Scranton's residence program provides housing for more than 2,100 students in residence halls and University houses, with special events and activities happening all year for residents. Special housing options include theme housing for specific majors or extracurricular interests. Each room is fully furnished including cable television outlet and a high-speed Ethernet connection. Off-campus apartments close to campus are also available.
Student life
The University of Scranton, through the Student Affairs Division, actively sponsors many programs and services for students. In addition to these programs, international students have opportunities to participate in programs sponsored by the International Student Club, the Saudi Student Club and also many other special interest clubs. The International Student Club meets frequently on various topics including cultural exchange, immigration-related issues, and the Global Dialog Series. During the academic year, the International Student Club sponsors bus trips to nearby cities such as New York City, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Washington, DC, with many opportunities for sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment. Every semester, as part of the orientation program, The International Student and Scholar Services Office, in collaboration with the International Student Club will plan a Welcome Gathering, which will bring new and current students together as an effort to better connect new students to the University community. International students are also invited to participate in the International Friendship Program. Through this Friendship Program, international students have the opportunity to be hosted by the University community and learn more about the American way of life.
