Location

Mount Mercy University is a welcoming university where students of diverse backgrounds, ages and faiths receive a challenging, practical education. Mount Mercy is set on a beautiful, safe campus with easy access to classrooms, residence halls, cafeteria, library and athletic facilities. Graduate classes are held in a state-of-the art new facility only five minutes from campus. Mount Mercy is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a mid-sized, yet affordable city, only a four hour drive from major U.S. cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Kansas City. The busy regional airport is served by five airlines and is only 15 minutes from campus. The city bus system and university shuttles help with access to all Cedar Rapids has to offer. Mount Mercy offers more than 40 undergraduate majors and minors, including strong programs in business and natural sciences. Mount Mercy was recently ranked by Money Magazine as a top "50 Best Colleges You Can Actually Get Into" and received an "A" grade from Money in the value-added category. Graduate programs include MBA, Master of Strategic Leadership, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Education, and Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, and Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Unterkunft


Mount Mercy's housing options range from traditional two-person rooms to eight-person suites. All residence halls have separate floors reserved for male and for female students and the student rooms come equipped with Internet connections and basic cable television. Regina Hall is a six-story building that houses double or single rooms with common bath areas on each floor. McAuley Hall has four residence floors housing 107 students in double or single rooms connected by semi-private baths. Lower Campus Apartments house 58 upper class (3rd and 4th year) and graduate students in four "houses," of two-bedroom apartments. Andreas House accommodates 141 upper class students (3rd and 4th year) in 18 eight-person suites. Each suite features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and kitchenette.

Student life

Mount Mercy has a vibrant campus with activities to interest every student. There are 15 varsity sports, plus over 30 clubs and organizations, that will help you keep busy, make friends and gain valuable leadership experience. The International Club allows you to share your culture and organizes events and trips throughout the year. We welcome international students from more than 25 countries. There is a dedicated, experienced international and multicultural staff who will guide you through visas and travel and help you get settled in Cedar Rapids. With a population of over 125,000 in Cedar Rapids and over 225,000 in the metropolitan area, Cedar Rapids is home to three colleges, two hospitals and more than a dozen FORTUNE 500 businesses. The mid-sized city of Cedar Rapids offers professional sports, theater, parks, museums, music venues, and restaurants, where students can enjoy their free time. Downtown Cedar Rapids, as well as the eclectic "New Bo" and historic Czech Village neighborhoods, have a variety of artistic, cultural and wellness activities throughout the year. Iowa City, home to the University of Iowa, a major research university with extensive academic, sports and cultural opportunities, is a short half-hour drive away.Cedar Rapids is a diverse city, offering houses of worship for many faiths and denominations, including: Baha'i, Christian (Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant), Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Zen Buddhist faiths.
